AREA Goals
1. AREA will promote member services that contribute
to improving the mental health and well being of troubled and troubling, or at
risk, children and youth and their
families.
2. Increase the visibility and recognition of AREA and
Re-ED programs by local, state and national governmental agencies responsible
for
mental health, educational and social services through demonstrating the
effectiveness of our services.
3. Increase organizational and individual membership
in AREA.
4. Ensure financial sustainability of AREA.
Proposed Activities for AREA Board Members for 2003-2005;
· Increase the number of AREA sponsoring agency memberships with programs that support and endorse Re-ED principles and practices.
· Develop a valid tool to help programs self evaluate their support and endorsement of Re-ED principles and practices.
· Facilitate the production of a book about the current best practices and outcome studies used in member agencies.
· Increase influence on state and national policy that impacts mental health services to children and their families through relationships, presentations and demonstrated effectiveness of services.
· Improve AREA newsletter format and appearance.
· Improve AREA brochure to provide information to interested parties and potential members.
· Maintain regular contact with all current and past members to encourage continued membership and participation in AREA training and conferences.
· Facilitate further research on “Therapeutic Alliance” by Vanderbilt University as it relates to capturing data that reinforces the key principles and practices of AREA member agencies.
